Saint Paul, MN — Today Representative Ron Kresha (R – Little Falls) delivered his letter to Governor Walz, Speaker Hortman, and Majority Leader Long stating his intent to remain in office number 207 through the end of this biennium. Currently, members and staff are expected to be vacated from the state office building by May 24th so that work on the 730-million-dollar state office building renovation and expansion project can continue. Design and authorization for the project have been finalized in the House Rules Committee and at every step passed along partisan lines.
“This is the Democrat’s Palace for Politicians and clearly a part of their agenda to turn our citizen-led, part-time legislature into a full-time playground for career politicians.” Said Rep. Kresha. “Like so many other poorly planned government projects, the grand designs incorporated into the Democrats' expansion plans are already leading to skyrocketing costs. The total project cost has risen to nearly $750 million, with taxpayers on the hook for $275 million in interest payments. This is obscene.”
